This little brewery is tucked away in Lafayette, Colorado near Boulder. They’re known for their fried chicken but I came specifically to gorge myself on breakfast food. A glass of Big Rosie porter appeared in front of me as well.
Big Rosie is a silky smooth American porter with, as you might expect, a strong coffee character and full, milky consistency. It’s dangerously drinkable at a robust 6.8% ABV with a great balance of fresh hops and roasty malts.
Black and chocolate malts create smooth espresso notes and just a touch of sweetness in both the taste and aroma of this porter. It also has a lovely savoury/umami flavour that I always love about dark malts. Cascade and Willamette hops in this dry-hopped brew add a touch of citrus and very modest bitterness. Overall Big Rosie is rich, smooth, and very fragrant. It paired beautifully with brunch!
